Motorised Roman blinds in Hertfordshire new build family home by Stripe Interiors

The Brief

Our client's new-build family home required a considered mix of functional and decorative window treatments across several very different rooms. The cinema room needed complete blackout for immersive viewing. The living areas and den called for soft, filtered light with stylish detailing. And the back living room bay demanded a bespoke track — bent on site to follow the exact curve of the window — dressed with soft voiles to create a flowing connection between the interior and the garden beyond.

Design & Materials

Cinema Room: Colour-matched blackout blinds for total, uncompromising light control — chosen to disappear into the room's scheme when not in use.

Living Room & Den: Electric voile blinds provide soft, diffused light throughout the day, paired with motorised Roman blinds for added texture, elegance and the convenience of remote operation.

Back Living Room Bay: Soft voiles on a curved track bent on site to match the exact geometry of the bay, creating a natural, light-filled connection to the garden and enhancing the sense of space in the room.

Technical Execution

The bay window track was the most technically demanding element of the project — bent on site by our team to match the property's exact dimensions, ensuring a seamless, tailored result that a standard off-the-shelf track simply could not have achieved.

All electric and motorised blinds were installed with careful alignment and fully tested before handover, combining modern technology with a flawless finish throughout. Every blind operates smoothly and quietly, exactly as it should in a well-considered home.

The Result

Enhanced Functionality: Every room's window treatments deliver precisely the right level of light control and privacy — from total blackout in the cinema room to soft, adjustable light in the living areas.

Seamless Design Integration: The curved bay track and voiles create an elegant, natural flow to the garden, while the motorised Roman blinds add a layer of sophistication and ease to everyday life in the home.

Client Satisfaction: The homeowners were delighted with the precision of the fitting, the smooth operation of all motorised and electric elements, and the overall finish throughout their new home.

Conclusion

New-build homes present a particular opportunity — the chance to specify window treatments from the outset, designed around the architecture and the way the family will actually live in the space. This Hertfordshire project is a good example of what that looks like when it comes together well.
